We're a small business, and we treat your details the way we'd want ours treated. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We don't sell your data to anyone, and we don't run advertising or tracking on this site.

Who we are

PoochSnacks is a trading name of Cairn House Arts & Crafts, based in Durness in the Scottish Highlands. For anything to do with your data, email hello@poochsnacks.co.uk.

What we collect

• Your account — name, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in a readable form.
• Your orders — delivery address, order contents, totals and order history.
• Pooch Points — your balance and the history of points earned and redeemed.
• Reviews — anything you write, shown publicly under your first name and last initial.
• Newsletter — your email address, only if you choose to subscribe.

We do not store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and your card number never reaches our systems.

Why we need it

• To take payment, pack your order and get it to the right address.
• To send you order confirmations and delivery updates.
• To run your account and your Pooch Points balance.
• To send you the newsletter, if and only if you asked for it.
• To keep proper business and tax records, which we're legally required to do.

Who else sees it

Only the companies that help us run the shop, and only the parts they need:

• Stripe — processes payments securely.
• Royal Mail and courier partners — receive the delivery address on your parcel.
• Our email provider — delivers order and account emails.
• Google Fonts — serves the fonts this site uses, which means your browser contacts Google when a page loads.

We never sell or rent your details, and we don't share them for advertising.

Cookies

This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies at all. The only cookies we set are:

• A session cookie, which keeps you signed in and remembers your basket.
• A short-lived maintenance cookie, used only by staff when the shop is temporarily closed.

Both are essential to the site working, and neither follows you anywhere else.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for six years, as tax rules require. Account details are kept while your account is open. Newsletter details are removed as soon as you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct anything that's wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to how we're using it. Email hello@poochsnacks.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data we'll update this page and the date at the top.
